say what? married?

Yes, we were! And here's the pictures finally! Leah has posted her great photos...and we are so lucky that she had that camera in hand! And below are E's most professional and lovely images... what's that you say? Victorian-looking? I dig it, too!

And what was going on the morning before all this fun?? Playing on the river of course! These are more E images... that's my boy...

More to come...

who's counting?

I am...

E left for Maine yesterday and the countdown has begun: 84 days. So, in the meantime Pep and I are attempting to adjust to being just the two of us here in SF. We went to the dog park this morning, did some grocery shopping, and hit up the Goodwill.

But, on the topic of counting...I've been meaning to post about my FIRST ride (that is, I got on my bike without the intention of destination): 18.68 miles! E went with me, riding to Sausalito and dodging the tourists for an outrageously priced cappuccino. We crossed the Golden Gate--super windy--and rode down the hill on the other side back to the bay level.

Mr. Cool

Mrs. Cool...yeah...

It was awesome, and my biggest accomplishment? Not keeling over! Think I may give it another whirl on my little Milano next weekend. I heart my bike... (it used to say so on my handle bars until that bell drove me crazy), and in dedication to it and to Leah's new choice ride (coming soon):

And, though we aren't counting E's years since 8 years ago, we celebrated nonetheless at a Neko Case concert at the Warfield... she was a vision and we were crazy close to her. yay!

Nice theater...eh?

guess who's taller than me?

forthcoming: honeymoon pics... yeah, I know... a little late but who's counting?

16 days and a ton of things to think about!!!

So, I have two papers to hand in (was just working on one- an assimilation between my photographic practices and the idea of tragic theater and the likes...shuuuu-weet)
Gretta has her shoes, I found some at Marshall's- cheap!, I will be making the cakes- that's right!!! It seems there really isn't anything I can't take on for the day.
The best men have their plane tickets (and Brit & Surge as well)
Our rings await us--- Titanium!!! Hell yeah!
Orin and Ann continue to keep the Ar Kansas motor running
Ralph and Ingrid will show up early to help
and I will post a few images and then get back to writing about repose, true intentions of gifts, the recognition of otherness in another (love according to Schrag), and the Dionysian/Apollonian transformation resulting in the leap across the abyss of terror in individuation...I'm gettin smart...they said so!

Blatant exploitation of the dog...what would you expect when I post to the blog and Gretta's at work?

Long hair for the hittchin'...so pretty!

Poor has nothing to do with quality of food I make for Gretta! This is more typical of our meals than you might think!

Another image sold...Gretta gets prescription sunglasses for this one!!! They look awesome- she picks them up tonight. And- no- I still won't pay for a nice hair cut! Hell- every time it grows back the same way- why bother?!?

30 days to hitchin'- hold on folks!

The planning is ramping up...
flowers ordered...
gretta ordered her shoes and we go get mine tomorrow...
reserved the car last week (remember- sold ours so now we rent)...
Ralph and Ingrid (my parents) are showing up early to help with last minute things...
and we both continue to calm the other one down as the anxiety shoots through the roof on occasion...
I have one show to take work down from, one review to hang work for, one appointment to show work to prospective buyer, two papers to write, and a job I'm still waiting to hear about...
and the dog isn't having any trouble sleeping! We don't thing she really knows she is about to get a mom like she has always wanted!
Back to reading for papers...

not to toot our own horn...but, "beep"

Of course, when someone gets that little glimmer of self-appreciation, they always seem to say something superficially modest like, "not to toot my own horn, but _____," filling in that accomplishment or action that spawned the pride. As I came across an article in the NY Times today, that little glimmer appeared. At the risk of coming across as NorCal self-righteous, I would like to pat E and myself on the backs for establishing (pre-recession) and maintaining (especially recession-mired) a frugal lifestyle. The NY Times article, "Austere Times? Perfect," champions several folks, who even if they are sitting pretty financially, have reduced the waste and consumption in their lifestyles by some measure. And, to that, I applaud! Granted, our frugality began out of necessity; still, even as we gained a little comfort and padding here, we have maintained our dedication to those often-over-looked and under-appreciated corners of the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle triangle. Recycling is great...yet, reducing and especially reusing have been the joy of our frugality. Not only has it become rewarding (thus the horn...), but as we reused those sour cream, apple juice, yogurt, and salsa containers, it's become a habit. Only one tiny flaw..."now which lid goes with what??"

Grad School sinking in?

I finally bit the bullet and worked up a website! As I wait for the reassignment of my new domain name romanphotographic.com

one long day of staying in cause I'm sick, one set of sore eyes, and a dog that can not figure out what the hell I was doing all day long when I wasn't walking her.

Enjoy. Let me know what you think. Amy- send your address for an invitation

nada

What happens when you find yourself unable to change the channel from the Food Network and in too close proximity to a grocery store that has an amazing selection of Latino groceries?

You realize you're up to your elbows in flour and shortening and you're using a tequila bottle as a rolling pin.
